Crowd Simulation of Pedestrians in a Virtual City

Virtual reality, as any emerging technology is receiving a great attention from the computer graphics world. As items of real life are digitalized, virtual reality's goal is to digitalize, in the most realistic way, our environment. But few researchers have based their work on simulation of our environment under normal conditions and most are concentrated on simulation of crisis situations. Our main purpose is to present a crowd simulation system for the representation of autonomous pedestrians under normal circumstances. To tackle the problem, we will use the agent-based approach with a behavioural model. Each agent receives stimuli from its environment, combines it with its internal state and generates a given behaviour, using certain rules. We will evaluate different behaviour modeling techniques and come up with a model for a more realistic crowd simulation.
